Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies Master of Arts

About us

The MA in Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies is an interdisciplinary degree offered by the Graduate School and administered by the Center for Slavic East European and Eurasian Studies.

In close cooperation with the program advisor and each student's faculty advisor, every student has the unique opportunity to design his/her degree with the courses offered and within the degree requirements.

The MA can be applied to a number of professional and/or academic careers. Recent graduates have pursued careers in intelligence/security, non-governmental organizations, the U.S. Foreign Service, business, the U.S. military, and journalism, as well as high school and college education.

The MA has a two-fold purpose:

  • To provide a terminal MA degree for those interested in careers in government, the military, and the private sector that require advanced knowledge of Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, and Southeastern Europe.
  • For those interested in academic careers, to introduce students to the knowledge and skills required for doctoral degree work.

Students craft a course of study that satisfies their professional goals and applies a focused approach to the study of Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, and Southeastern Europe. Students should understand that CSEEES program does not have its own faculty. Instead, it draws faculty from various departments and colleges who together form the backbone of Slavic East European and Eurasian Studies at ²ÝÁñ¶ÌÊÓƵ State.
